Three weeks ago, the newly appointed board of the Landscape and Waste Management Agency (LWMA) had an introductory meeting with the Minister responsible for Environment, Mr. Flavien Joubert, and the agency’s CEO, Mr. Shane Emilie. The purpose of this meeting was to briefly introduce the strategic objectives, assess the current status of waste management in the country, and discuss the agency’s overall capacity to meet its goals.
During the session, the team also addressed certain challenges that the agency is currently facing and emphasized their commitment to ensuring that practical solutions are provided. Discussions covered important topics such as compliance, strategic document review, achievements, communication channels, and the board’s expectations as they embark on their new roles.
The Chairperson of the board, Mr. Radley Webber, expressed his enthusiasm for working with the dynamic team, emphasizing his eagerness to help reposition the agency with a fresh vision. “I am looking forward to working closely with this dedicated team to elevate the image for the agency,” said Mr. Webber.
As part of his brief profile, Mr. Webber was the CEO of the Indian Ocean Tuna (IOT) company in 2001 and has since served in chairperson roles across various private sector entities. His wealth of experience is expected to contribute significantly to the agency’s operations over the next two years.
The new board’s mandate officially commenced on the 1st of July 2024 and will span until June 2026.
