Officers from the Animal Welfare Unit received training from Russian veterinary experts as part of a sterilization campaign

The Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change, and Environment, in partnership with the Seychelles Animal Welfare Institute (SAWI), organized a sterilization campaign last month. This campaign included training sessions led by a team of six veterinary experts from Russia, under the direction of SAWI. The Russian veterinarians conducted a series of specialized training sessions aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of local veterinarians. The training focused on critical areas such as advanced techniques in animal health management, best practices for handling and treating animals, and innovative approaches to improving animal welfare.

This training has been highly beneficial to the officers of the Animal Welfare Unit in the Agriculture Department, enhancing their knowledge and skills in the complete sterilization process and procedures. It has allowed them to refine their techniques and stay updated on the latest approaches in sterilization campaigns.

The officers mentioned that the campaign has given them valuable opportunities to work with new medications and access advanced tools. This experience has significantly expanded their knowledge and equipped them with new skills that they believe can be applied in future campaigns.
