Policy Planning, Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Section

Vision/Purpose:

The purpose of the section is to develop, review or replace obsolete policies within the agricultural sector, develops projects aimed at providing support to policy implementation, mobilize resources for these projects, provides awareness and communication about activities in the sector and maintains a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework for tracking progress in the sector.

In addition, the section ensures management of the development and use of land resources designated for agricultural purposes and supports the development of plans and measures to achieve greater and more efficient agricultural output.

Objective:

Provision of relevant services and assistance to ensure sustainability and improvement in local agricultural productivity to attain the objective of the national food security policy

Activities:

  • Allocate of state land designated for agricultural
  • Ensure all state land resources designated for agricultural purposes are officially demarcated;
  • Identify new potential state agricultural lands
  • Liaise with Agricultural Extension Services in monitoring of farmers’ performance on state land
  • Ensure all developments on state land resources designated for agricultural purposes are implemented according to specifications, norms and standards
  • Collaborate with the Ministry responsible for Land Use & Habitat, to ensure all land resources designated for agricultural development are incorporated into the National Land Use Plan;
  • Manage all agricultural leases;
  • Registration of farmer/farm entities and farm businesses
  • Provide registered farms with financial assistance under the A.D.F Scheme
